Sexual offences in Canada

In the criminal code of conduct maintained in Canada, sexual assault is an offensive crime & may lead to severe punishments if the evidences are found to speak against you. In this case, it will be hard for you to prove your innocence. There are many aspects to deal with such cases & you may surely need to hire a criminal lawyer for this purpose. However, there are several different forms of sexual offences as considered by the criminal code. Just trying to make sexual contact with someone without having his/her consent isn’t just the only form of sexual offence prevailing across the streets of Canadian boundaries.

Criminal law in Vancouver along with criminal code confirms the following forms of sexual offences as illegal in nature:

•    Sexual exploitation: If a person hasn’t yet the achieved the age of consent for having sexual contact, it is illegal for other person to have sexual contact with such a person. Similarly in the case of physical disability, a person cannot force the disabled person to have sexual contact without their consent. It is given in section 153 & 153.1 of criminal code.

•    Sexual interference: Either touching a minor under 16 years of age for sexual purposes or provoking him/her to have sexual contact is a criminal offence under sections 151 & 152 of the criminal code.

•    Sexual intercourse with blood relations: It is strictly against the law when someone wish to have sexual intercourse who is known to you or with whom you have a blood relation, be it your parents, your brother, sister, child or any other relative. Some people also try to have sexual contact with animals (bestiality) which is illegal as given in section 155 &160 of criminal code.

•    Child pornography:  Criminal laws against sexual crimes consider making, distribution, possession & access of child pornographic content in any way. It is unlawful to make porn videos of person less than 16 years of age being engaged in sexual activity. It is enlisted in section 163.1of criminal code.

•    Indecency in public places: Indecent acts being performed in public places is illegal in nature as given in section 173 of criminal code.
